Branding with Appliqué

Appliqué comes from the French appliquer which means to "to put on or lay on; a cut-out decoration fastened to a large piece of material. In appliqué, one layer of fabric is places over another layer of fabric and is sewn in place.

Appliqué opens a whole new design world to the "Brander" allowing for many more possibilities than a traditional direct embroidery.

There are many styles of appliqué include machine appliqué which gives a clean cut look and hand cut appliqué which gives a rough but natural look to the garment.

Also, don't forget to spice up the locations of were you put your appliqué piece. i.e elbow patch, split front appliqué over the zipper, back of shoulders, on the hood.

"Ideas for appliqué patterns are practically
endless, add different fabrics to give new
dimension to the design"
